My ancestors were snatched from Earth over 4,000 years ago and nothing but their DNA survived the experience. It was one of the few things that did survive of the Rongyao's ill fated attempts at colonizing. Later they thought the humans would make excellent slaves if they were only genetically cybernetically enhanced. Humans had neither fang nor claw, so they could not possibly be a threat. Just to be sure, DNA from plants, something that is walked on, was added so we would have chlorophyll in our skin. This error would lead to their extinction on their home planet.

We rediscovered Earth in the early 1860's and were appalled at what we found. The most advanced bits of Earth were coal fire steam age environments. You were defenseless against even the simplest intrusion. We set up Operation Tiandi to defend against the random criminal opportunist and registered you as our protectorate, but the Interstellar Alliance is not pleased with what they see.

I am stationed on the dark side of the moon watching over the systems that monitor Earth, while the Interstellar Alliance argues about what to do about your screwed up planet.
